About Lebeaques Kaltech Power Company
The Lebeaques Kaltech Power Company Ltd is developing a 700 MW gas-fired and combined-cycle power plant adjacent to the existing Ibom Power Plant in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and working with the state government to improve existing power infrastructure. The model for this project is the first of its kind undertaken in Africa.
The plant will be developed in three phases with a total investment of over $500m.
- Replacement and repair of out-of-service GE Frame 6B to increase prime power production to 110MWto the grid.
- Upgrades and additions to existing 330 kv transmission lines and substation.

Striving to meet increasing energy demands, both locally and within Nigeria as a whole, is needed to support continued growth, associated employment opportunities, social improvement, and necessary infrastructure developments.
Our Goals
The primary objective of the Project is to deploy electrical energy as quickly as possible to support the Government of Akwa ibom state, a short-term strategy for power generation. The project is also needed to meet more long-term objectives to help meet the increasing energy demand in Nigeria to ensure its continued social and economic development.
As such, successful achievement of Lebeaques Kaltech Power Company Limited objectives intend to:
- Provide continuous, reliable, high efficiency and low cost gas-based electric power
- Provide emergency power to the to start up the grid
- Provide emergency power to the Nigerian economy; and,
- Contribute to the long-term national and regional energy requirements to support sustainable development
